The two sizes of target (3.0in and 2.1in) provide versatility in using this product. Softball players or beginner baseball players will benefit from using the larger one - slightly larger than a standard baseball - as it serves as a smaller target for softball players, and a larger-than-standard target for beginner baseball players. More advanced baseball (and softball) players can progress onto the smaller size. Once the smaller-than-standard size is mastered, hitting a standard ball in a game situation becomes easier, allowing for more focus on target control and power.
The Swing Target Stick has soft foam grips which reduce vibration and fatigue for the coach-parent who is holding the target stick during training. This means longer sessions without discomfort - something other brands don't offer.

If you want to increase a player's ability to react to changes in ball flight due to factors like spin and wind, you can change the position of the ball mid-swing, a little up or down perhaps, allowing the player to compensate with a quick adjustment of his/her own.
